70,000 Local Government Scheme Members to View Their Pension Records Online

The Avon Pension Fund, the UK’s 12th largest fund within the Local Government Pension Scheme, is now able to provide its 34,000 active and 36,000 retired and deferred members the facility to securely view their own pension details.

This is following the launch of a new secure information portal called Gandlake Pension Account, a recent development between Gandlake and the Avon Pension Fund.

Active and deferred members can now securely view, check and interrogate their pension records online, including a running total of pensionable service (or deferred pension details), pensionable employment history, financial history and beneficiary details, with annual benefit statements to follow shortly. Pensioners can view personal details, pension payment details, beneficiary details, pension payslips and P60 details.

The portal will also enable members to access on-line forms to send information back to the fund such as change of name or address.

Portal access is also available to the Fund’s own pension administration staff enabling them to view pension records and other personal details exactly as they are viewed by members. This ensures that the Fund can respond to members’ telephone queries at the first point of contact with greater speed and efficiency, providing even higher levels of customer satisfaction.

Once authorised, employers participating in the Fund will also be able to view, check and confirm employee members’ personal details, employer records, pension details and to securely communicate new employee details to the Fund.

“Avon Pension Fund is committed to excellent customer service,” says Steve McMillan, Avon Pension Fund Pension Manager. “Our new information portal – which does not require additional add-on technology – helps three important stakeholders groups: the benefit teams can use it to respond to employer and employee members’ needs more quickly, employers can access information securely and employee members can access their own information quickly and at anytime, day or night.”

Bristol City Council is the first employer to register and receive authentication to access the service: “The information portal is now used to send large spreadsheets of information across to the Avon Pension Fund. This is more secure than our previous arrangements and has helped to improve data security,” says Tom Wallen, Bristol City Council.

Provided by Gandlake, “Pension Account” is an information portal designed specifically to meet the needs of Pension Administration Managers, employers and Fund members.
